PHD IN EARTH SCIENCES

Full Accreditation, for 4 years, by A3ES (Portuguese Accreditation Agency), 13-11-2018 (link)

University Fernando Pessoa’s PhD in Earth Sciences was designed to meet the need for advanced preparation, in Portugal, of specialists in the fields of Oil Systems and Carbon Dioxide Capture, Use and Storage technologies and related topics. In this sense, this 3rd Cycle is organized in two research lines:

  • Oil Systems and Energy Problems
  • Georisks, Gas Emissions and Geological Sequestration of CO2

The course is organized in 6 academic semesters, corresponding to 2 semesters of classes (60 ECTS) followed by 4 semesters of supervised elaboration of the thesis. For this purpose students can use the R&D Lab 3ERL (Research Laboratory in Energy, Environment and Public and Environmental Health) of the Research Center FP-ENAS (UFP Research Unit in Energy, Environment and Health), Reference Unit 4546 registered in the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology.
