APPLICATION INFORMATION

1. Admissions Conditions 

1.1. General conditions: To have completed a three year undergraduate degree in a Portuguese or a foreign institution of higher education

1.2. Specific conditions:
1.2.1. Master in Communication Sciences:
1.2.1.1.Three year undergraduate degree in the areas of communication, journalism, audiovisual, multimedia, communications consultancy, advertising or public relations;
1.2.1.2.Three year undergraduate degree in other related specializations, preferably in the human and social sciences area, provided they are considered adequate to the attendance of this cycle of studies by the legally and statutorily competent organ;
1.2.3.Academic, scientific and/or professional curriculum that demonstrates an adequate scientific basis for attending the cycle of studies leading to a master degree in Communication Sciences.
1.2.2. Master in Civil Engineering: three year undergraduate degree in Engineering, preferably in Civil Engineering;
1.2.3. Master in Computer Systems Engineering: three year undergraduate degree in Engineering, preferably in Computer Systems Engineering;
1.2.4. Master in Clinical and Health Psychology: three year undergraduate degree in Psychology.

2. Selection criteria:
2.1. Undergraduate degree, or legal equivalent, in the scientific area of the master programme;
2.2. Highest classification in the undergraduate degree, or legal equivalent;
2.3. Undergraduate degree, or legal equivalent, in the scientific area closer to that of the master programme;
2.4. CV and motivation letter.

Notes:
1. If there are remaining places, a 2nd phase of applications will start in August.
2.The opening of courses requires a minimum number of registrations.

5. Application submission
5.1. Online in http://candidaturas.ufp.pt > Graduate Master
5.2. At the University’s Admissions Office:

Necessary documents:
– European Union country identification document; Non European Nationals: Passport OR, if alrerady living in Portugal: Student Visa for Portugal or Residence Permit issued by the Portuguese Foreigners Services;
– Copy of a fiscal identification document (tax number) (for receipt purposes);
– Authenticated copy of the Diploma or Certificate of undergraduate or graduate degree (see Notes 6.3 and 6.4)*;
– Authenticated copy of Transcript of Records of undergraduate or graduate degree (see Notes 6.3 and 6.4)*;
– Updated CV  (in Europass template);
– Proof of the activities listed in the CV (example: employers’ statements on official company paper, duly stamped and signed);
– Motivation letter;
– Proof of proficiency of the language of studies;
UFP’s application form, duly filled out (not necessary for online appliocations);
– Payment of the Application Fee.

* In the case of online application, the document must be sent – within the application deadline – by post to the Admission Office (address below).

6. Admitted applicants must register in person at the Admissions Office:
Necessary elements:
– Non European Nationals: Student Visa or Residence Permit issued by the Portuguese Foreigners Services;
– Copy of a fiscal identification document (tax number) (for receipt purposes);
– One passport 3 x 4 cm colour photo;
– UFP’s registration form, duly filled out;
– For the Psychology master programmes: proof of proficiency of the Portuguese language*;
– Payment of the Registration and the Tuition Fee.

* Students admitted in the master programme of Clinical and Health Psychology and of Justice Psychology: Victims of Violence and Crime must give in Proof of proficiency of the Portuguese language:
1. Students that do not give in the proof of proficiency when they register, will mandatorily be enrolled in the “Portuguese for Foreigners” course.
1.1. The duration of the course is of one school year and students must obtain a positive mark in order to proceed to the internships.
1.2. Students will take an eliminatory exam at the end of the school year, having access to the final exam and the special exam periods.
2. The attendance of the course is subject to the payment of the corresponding fee in force in each school year.

7. Notes:
7.1. There are no refunds of payments, nor return of documents;
7.2. The opening of the course requires a minimum number of registrations,
7.3. Certificates and transcripts issued by foreign institutions of education must:
– Be authenticated by the official education services of country in which the course was taken and recognised by the respective Portuguese diplomatic authorities or bear The Hague Apostille;
– The authentication must be clearly visible in the copy submitted in the online application;
– Contain the grading scale used in the institution (quantitative grades, with the minimum mark necessary for approval).
7.4. Academic documents issued in a language other than Portuguese, English, French or Spanish, must be translated into Portuguese by a translator recognized by the respective Portuguese diplomatic authorities.
